Participate 1.1.2 Joining a Digital Learning Community

Joining a Digital Learning Community (www.learnzillion.com)

I chose to join Learn Zillion because it provides an array of amazing resources and videos for both students and educators that are common core driven. All the resources are free and can be assigned to students. As a special educator teacher, it is important to have access to materials that can easily accessible to students at varying grade levels. It is an amazing tool for remediation, extra practice, or enrichment for each level of students.

What is a DLC like?
A Digital Learning Community can vary from community to community. Whether you are in Georgia or in Dubai, individuals in these communities can collaborate and share resources in a supportive environment.

What can Digital Citizens do to make the process of joining a DLC more appealing to and easier for students? Instructors can help students to find appropriate DLCs like OpenStudy. They can illustrate the importance of sharing and interacting with students globally. By allowing students to participate in DLC, they will be using those 21st century skills that are encouraged. Sites like Edmodo are great for encouraging learning outside of the classroom. Whether it is for quizzes or literature circles, teachers are able to design resources and materials for easy for our students.
