Participate 3.1.1 Access to the Digital Community

Barriers to Accessing Digital Learning

  • Cost-  Due to the high cost of Internet access, it limits access to digital learning for a group of student/people that cannot afford computers or Internet.
  • Age- Since the Internet is one of the most evolving forms of technology; many older individuals have limited understanding of the Internet and how to use a computer.
  •  Accessibility- Access to the Internet can be limited in some rural areas as well as language concerns can prevent others from research.

Steps to Eliminate Barriers

  • Continue to focus on creating access points in communities that have limited access
  • Community groups, organizations, schools should provided access to courses and the Internet to help individuals develop necessary skills
  • Continue to publicize information about programs for affordable Internet to families.
  • Increase the hours of availability for computers and other resources in our communities.
